TOUBKAL MONT EXPEDITION

Climbing Mount Toubkal is like stepping into another world. The journey begins in the small mountain village of Imlil, where trails wind past terraced fields, tiny Berber houses, and streams. The air is crisp and smells of pine and earth.

As I start ascending, the paths become steeper, rocky, and sometimes icy, depending on the season. The High Atlas mountains stretch endlessly around me, jagged peaks and deep valleys creating a breathtaking panorama. Every turn brings a new perspective: a hidden waterfall, a grazing goat, or a shepherd guiding his flock.

Overnight stays in mountain refuges offer a simple but warm experience. Sitting around a small stove, drinking hot mint tea and sharing stories with fellow trekkers, you can feel the anticipation of reaching the summit.

The final ascent is challenging. Loose rocks, steep slopes, and thin mountain air test every step, but the sense of accomplishment pushes me forward. Then, reaching the summit of Toubkal, 4,167 meters above sea level, everything changes. The world stretches below me — valleys, ridges, and distant peaks, all bathed in golden sunlight. The wind is cold but exhilarating, and the feeling of standing at the top of North Africa is unforgettable.

Descending is just as magical. Trails meander back through the High Atlas villages, past fields and streams, giving time to reflect on the journey, the landscapes, and the connection to the mountains.
